Hi, I'm Rachel.
My name is Rachel Quick. I am a lifelong Mendota Heights resident, and a registered voter. I am declaring my candidacy for Mendota Heights City Council. My son, Jack, is a student at Garlough Environmental Magnet School.
I am employed full-time at Recurly, Inc, as their Senior Director of Customer Operations. I have my BA from Augsburg University and my masters degree in Library Science from Saint Catherine University. My education and startup experience have led to proficiency in establishing growing businesses, managing and organizing teams of distributed employees, and extensive experience in accounting, compliance, and budgeting.
I am a strong advocate for maintaining and expanding our natural resources: as a participant in the U of M Aquatic Invasive Species Detector program, and a volunteer supervisor at the Great River Greening Program. I also work to remove invasive terrestrial species from our local parks and green spaces. By the end of 2020, my home will be 96% powered by solar and the rest furnished by blocks of wind energy.
I also expand my volunteer efforts into literacy, education, and the arts: I am the chair of the Dakota County Public Arts Advisory Committee and serve on the Dakota County Library Advisory Committee. I love volunteering at our local elementary schools and serve on the Education Committee at the Dodge Nature Center. I take great joy in stocking my Little Free Library for area residents and am the Executive Director at the Dakota County Library Foundation.
I started my entry into City Council back in 2016 with a request for domestic animal ordinance updates. During this time, I worked with the community and council members to lead change. I was proud to show my son how effort and community involvement can lead change in the areas that personally affected us - and now want to expand that energy to the issues that impact all Mendota Heights residents.
I look forward to giving back to our community - thank you!
